Narottam Das

My artistic journey began early, influenced by the religious fervor of my father Mr. Bramhanand Sahoo and the artistic talent of my mother Mrs. Nirmala Sahoo, both of whom were deeply rooted in tradition. Growing up surrounded by art in Bhubaneshwar, and taking inspiration from my family, I started my art journey from 1994. I Seek to create beautiful things. My work draws heavily from Indian Mythology and tribal culture. I like experimenting with my forms, intermixing my work style with contemporary art to blend both traditional and modern art.
Apart from tribal style that uses mythological stories and folk art, everyday activities dominate the elements in my pictorial space. I am aware of the enormous influence of a woman over the life of a man. In fact, I consider a man to be incomplete and helpless without a woman.
I try to show that she is a vehicle who carries the man in his journey of life.
Likewise, in the incredible transformation of a girl’s life into womanhood, responsibilities of married life and then motherhood, I see my subject of art. I had tried to show a bond between two women and The beauty of companionship when they help groom each other. Moreover, women like body tattooing to add an erotic expression to their beauty. I try to recreate all those moments in my style. As a human being, a question arises in my mind: Who am I and from where did I come from?

I have struggled to know everything but still remain unaware of my inner soul and my inner voice. But when I get answers to my questions, I try it to reflect them in my work.
